The hospital in Masisi, North Kivu Province, sits on top of a hill. MSF supports this Ministry of Health hospital as well as a local clinic. MSF staff also operate an ambulance service and run mobile health clinics in areas where people have difficulty getting transportation to the hospital.

The hospital has a maternity waiting home, or village des mamans. Waiting homes are a life-saving solution in places where women have difficulty reaching a hospital in time for a safe delivery. More than 70 women identified as having at-risk pregnancies may stay here at one time. This way, they are sure to receive the care they need when it is time to give birth.
